I had a fantastic night tonight. I attended the John Williams concert at the Hollywood Bowl with my best friend (Alan) and his parents. They are my second family. Their younger son (Jeff)was in drumline with me throughout high school so they always attended football games and band/drumline shows. They would always feed us afterwards which I always appreciated. Since I was already friends with their older son, I got to spend a lot of time with the family and they definitely became a big part of my life. Alan is the only person from high school that I really talk to and see on a regular basis.
Anyways, back to the concert. It was absolutely incredible. I was at a loss for words by the time John Williams and the LA Philharmonic were finished. The music was so perfect. The entire ensemble was together, they were perfectly in tune, the balance was amazing, the soloists were phenomenal. I mean, I could go on about all the technical mumbo jumbo but really, the entire performance was just so moving. I am so glad I got to witness it, even if it was from the VERY last row of the Bowl. Honestly, it just makes me that much more impressed that I was a half mile away (apparently, or at least what I was told, and I’d believe it) and the sounds were still just as clear. I could hear all of the little nuances which impressed me the most. Fantastic job tonight and thank you for an incredible performance and inspiration. I know I want to play in a major orchestra or performing ensemble as my career. That’s what I’m going to school for. This night just helped me realize where I want to be and what it’s going to take to get there. And it’s going to be difficult but it will be worth every drop of sweat to get there.
The gym is tiny
There is only one shower head
I have no idea how we are going to have ensemble on this field
and I think they replaced the cook truck
I found the ice machine!
But this is my worst tour spread yet
and what on earth happened to the busses!?
Oh wait, I forgot
I’m at home.
